Saturday, July 30th, 2011: 5-6 Game for Woolsey
John Woolsey exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Thunderbird Field. The Vancouver third baseman had a field day against the Cartagena, finishing up with a 5-6 day and a spot in the record book.

"It's a shame that we lost the game. It's really hard to enjoy what I did today," lamenting the 7-6 loss to the SION beat writers. "You would think 5 hits would do it."

Asked about his great day, he replied, "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple, I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."

Well, Woolsey must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best day's ever with the bat.

J. Woolsey doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off O. González in the 9th and flied out in the 10th.

In the 2011 season Woolsey is batting .259 with 78 hits and 16 home runs. He has scored 41 times and batted in 43.
Friday, July 8th, 2011: Macowen Blanks Jackson
Larry Macowen of the Vancouver Thunderbirds worked his mound magic on the Jackson Cliffmen. He blanked them 5-0 on 4 hits, registering 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

"Making good pitches is the name of the game and I made some good ones in this one," said Macowen to SION scribes after the game.

In 2011 Macowen has posted a record of 5 wins and 1 loss with a 2.45 ERA. He has appeared in 7 games and struck out 29 in 55 innings.
Sunday, July 3rd, 2011: Macowen Fires Shutout in Thunderbirds Victory
Vancouver pitcher Larry Macowen gave the Aguascalientes fits today as he blanked them 9-0 on 2 hits. He registered 4 strikeouts and no walks in the shutout.

His manager said, "When he's locating his pitches, he becomes unpredictable. He had Aguascalientes guessing the entire game."

This year Macowen has worked 46 innings with 26 strikeouts en route to a 4-1 record and a 2.93 ERA.
