The latest news from the SION reporters following the Lima Toros is that an agreement has been reached with Otto Tobei to continue as their right fielder for another 4 years.
Thus far this year Tobei has hit .301 with 35 home runs and 103 RBIs.

Looks like the Lima Toros will have to do without catcher Bill Wooldridge, who is suffering from the flu. He needs rest and medication and should be back at full strength in one week.
So far this year Wooldridge is hitting .270 with 14 home runs.

 | Monday, September 5th, 2011: SA Announces Player of the Week
Von Wier would not be denied the South American Player of the Week Award for this past week. His consistent stroke, which produced 13 hits in 23 at-bats and a .565 average, made him the clear favorite to win the honor.
"You just go out there and do what you have to do," said Wier, "When I'm up, I try to focus and block everything else out of my mind...and have a good at-bat. I'm up there to get a hit or advance a runner, not to get caught up in the emotion of the moment. I hope I can win this award every week."
He also tallied 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
This season in 57 games, Wier has hit at a .308 clip with 66 hits, 5 home runs, 18 RBIs and 34 runs scored.
