Saturday, October 1st, 2011: Guayaquil Whitewashes Guatemala City, Gaskin Winner
After his 7-0 shutout win against the Quakes, Van Gaskin said, "I went out there to try and eat up innings and help out our bullpen. I felt I had my good stuff... and it turned out my command was solid and my breaking balls were good."

They were better than good as the Tigrillos pitcher put up 7 strikeouts, surrendered 1 walk, allowed 3 hits and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.

In 2011 Gaskin has compiled a 22-6 mark with a 2.03 ERA.
Thursday, September 29th, 2011: Bad News for Guatemala City, Sutejirou Soetsu Injured
Medical officials from the Guatemala City Quakes reported that the club's 30-year-old reliever, Sutejirou Soetsu, suffered a damaged meniscus in yesterday's matchup against the Cali Condors while throwing a pitch. Soetsu is expected to miss 1-2 weeks of action.

To this point in the season, Soetsu has rung up 34 saves in 66 relief appearances. He has also crafted a 3.17 ERA, 7 wins and 6 losses and 52 strikeouts in 71 innings.

This week's Player of the Week was Eldridge Grote of the Guatemala City Quakes.

His red-hot bat sizzled and scorched South American pitching for 12 hits in 25 at-bats, 2 home runs and 5 RBIs, while hitting .480 and scoring 5 runs.
