Thursday, September 1st, 2011: McClure Voted August's Best SA Rookie The South American Rookie of the Month trophy has been awarded to Tom McClure of the Cali Condors. In August he played in 27 games, recording a .306 batting average with 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 20 runs scored. So far this year McClure has 8 home runs and a .267 batting average. Wednesday, August 10th, 2011: Jirado 5-5 for Cali It was a hits blitz for Martino Jirado at Clifton Park. The Cali Condors shortstop tore into Rio de Janeiro for 5 hits in 5 at-bats and wrote his name into the record book. But it wasn't enough to win the game. The Rio de Janeiro Panthers swept past the Condors 9-6 to ruin the day for him. The Cali manager bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game. The Panthers got too many good looks today, and we paid for it." M. Jirado singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
