Friday, September 9th, 2011: Corvallis Crowned WHBLS A Champions
The Corvallis concluded the season in grand fashion -- they won the WHBL Short Season A Round 3. They nailed it down at Tortoises Stadium by whipping the Tipitapa 15-8 to win it all. They took the series 4-2.

Their motto for the season was "Win or Die Trying".

"They never let up and they never stopped trying the whole season," the Corvallis manager proudly told reporters. "They hustled and fought the whole season and it continued in the playoffs. They are a very special bunch of guys."

To get their 2nd league crown, the Corvallis finished up the regular season in the North American League Western Division with a 37-11 record, ending up in first place in the division standings.
Friday, September 2nd, 2011: Sandoval Rips Tipitapa for 5 Hits
Who needs batting practice? Luis Sandoval of Corvallis apparently doesn't as he battered Tipitapa with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 12-0 win.

He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 5 day... will my name be in the record books now?"

L. Sandoval doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off R. Matsumoto in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off X. Hsueh in the 8th.

Sandoval is hitting at a .360 mark this season. His stats show no home runs, 37 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has played 46 games for the Corvallis.
Friday, September 2nd, 2011: Smith Zeroes in on Tipitapa
William Smith of the Corvallis was really in the zone as he mowed down the Tipitapa hitters 12-0 in a sterling mound performance.

"I'm feeling good overall," he said.

"I'm executing my pitches, I'm able to hit my spots and I'm getting outs in key situations."

Smith shut down the Tipitapa, blanking them on 4 hits while registering 7 strikeouts and no walks.

This season to date, Smith has fashioned a 12-2 mark and 1.63 ERA in 110.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .207 against him and he has logged 55 strikeouts.
