| Breaking News | | Wednesday, July 27th, 2011: Phillips Belts Bunch of Base Hits During a player's career, there are days that stand out, and this day was definitely special! Terence Phillips went 5 for 5 against the College Station at Saskatoon Fairgrounds and the Saints picked up a 15-2 victory.
He exclaimed, "What a day! We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!" The delighted third baseman was really enjoying the happiness of the moment in the press room.
"He was patient up there today," the Saskatoon skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. Phillips has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes."
T. Phillips hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
In 2011 Phillips has hit at a .292 clip with 28 hits, 1 home run, 14 RBIs and has scored 12 times. | | Sunday, June 19th, 2011: Barrett 5-5 Against Saints It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Dale Barrett -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at Ballpark of Manzanillo and paced the Vacationers to a 8-5 win over the Saskatoon Saints.
After his dynamite batting performance the Virgin Islands third baseman told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book.
D. Barrett singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off G. Skah in the 8th.
| | Friday, June 17th, 2011: Ceballos Cracks 5 Hits It was a hits blitz for Ovidio Ceballos at Río Frío Grounds. The Puerto Quetzal first baseman tore into Saskatoon for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace Puerto Quetzal to a 16-6 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.
The manager for the Saints bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Ceballos, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."
O. Ceballos hit a two-run single in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Sánchez in the 8th.
