| Breaking News | | Sunday, September 4th, 2011: Puerto Cabezas Wins Round 3!
The Puerto Cabezas ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Cancún 11-2 to win the Round 3.
Puerto Cabezas won the series 4-1, capturing the title for the 1st time.
"We stepped it up at the right time...now we're the champs...it's a great feeling," the victorious manager exclaimed to the press.
The champs finished the regular season 64-50 and claimed first place in the South American League Northern Division.
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, the Puerto Cabezas owner proudly stated, "I am so happy for our city. Our great fans deserve this. I just hope they don't tear up the town celebrating too much."

It was a smooth and solid performance by Salomon Gutierrez of the Puerto Cabezas against Valparaíso today. He crafted a fine 2-hitter in blanking them 5-0 and chalked up 5 strikeouts and no walks along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Puerto Cabezas skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch, and enjoy."
This season Gutierrez has compiled a 4-1 mark, 2.30 ERA and made 6 starts.

Over the past month Bryant Ross has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the South American League. He proved all that and now he's been named July's Pitcher of the Month.
The rookie for the Puerto Cabezas posted 5-0 mark and a 1.88 ERA. In 6 starts he tossed 48 innings, permitted 28 hits and fanned 34 batters.
Season-to-date Ross has rung up 13 wins and 7 losses in 24 appearances. He has an ERA of 4.23 and has fanned 106 batters in 155.1 innings.
